What Does Genital Herpes Look Like?

Published by admin under Herpes Information

Have you seen genital herpes before? If you were previously infected with the herpes simplex type-2 virus, then you probably know already what genital herpes look like.

You can’t exactly tell how the infection looks like especially in cases when the herpes is dormant. At this stage, you can’t find any visible sign. Visible signs can only be seen once the outbreak occurs. Once you acquire the herpes simplex virus, it will take about 3 to 10 days before the outbreak occurs. Symptoms of herpes also vary from one person to another as well as the extent of the infection; it’s really hard to tell. However, the most common visible symptoms of herpes include the following:

- Red spots

- Red bumps on testicles and penis (male); red bumps around the anus, inside or outside the vaginal area (women)

- Blisters and open sores

Later on, during the healing process, the open sores or blisters will scab and when it falls off, new skin will grow.

Genital herpes and their symptoms can widely vary depending on the severity and the intensity of their outbreaks. While some may have mildly noticeable red bumps or spots on their genital areas, mainly around or near the vaginal area and cervix in women and in the scrotum and penis for men, some can have bigger and more noticeable red bumps which can be very painful and in time, burst and have skin eruptions causing more pain and discomfort.

For a good number of people with genital herpes, their first bout with the infection can be very noticeable and genital herpes will be very visible. The red bumps will be larger than what they would see in future outbreaks and can cause more symptoms aside from the lesions and red bumps that is generally what signifies genital herpes. Such symptoms include headaches, fever, and other body pains.

Unfortunately, for some people, aside from the mentioned symptoms and the red bumps and lesions, they also experience swelling glands in their groin area and will have difficulty when urinating. These symptoms can last about two to four weeks depending on the treatment being taken.

If not taken cared of and if the outbreak is intense, the red bumps, which is the first symptom of genital herpes will grow and burst. This will become an open sore, which is very painful, but will soon dry up and develop a scab. Don’t worry though as usually, when the crust or scab falls off, the open sore, lesion, or blister doesn’t leave a scar.

5 Methods to Control Genital Herpes

When infected with genital herpes, it’s important to learn how to anticipate and prevent outbreaks. This reduces your emotional and physical stress and it might also reduce the likelihood of passing the herpes virus to others. Genital herpes is not curable, but outbreaks can possibly be controlled with these five methods.

1. Identify Genital Herpes Triggers

Certain triggers can cause herpes outbreaks. These triggers can be physical or emotional. A great way to lessen the occurrence of outbreaks is to discover what your triggers are so you can recognize and avoid them. Triggers can be any number of things: emotional or physical stress, hormonal changes such as menopause or menstruation for females, excessive sun exposure, sexual intercourse, and anything that weakens your immune system. Keep in mind that triggers vary from person to person, so you must try to recognize the triggers that affect you the most.

2. Research Treatment Options

Create a list of treatment possibilities for herpes genitalis and note those that usually help you the most with outbreaks. There are topical creams, pain relievers, and natural remedies to try, but one treatment might work better than another for your symptoms. Treatments are personal to you and might differ from the type of treatment that helps another. Also, investigate natural treatment options such as essential oils. Essential oils can relieve herpes genitalis symptoms without harsh ingredients that are often found in prescription or over-the-counter medications.

One particular essential oil that has helped many people is Tamanu tree oil. It is used to treat a number of ailments including outbreaks caused by HSV II (herpes simplex virus II).

3. Be Extremely Careful in Your Sex Life

You must be very responsible with your sex life now that you have HSV 2. Genital herpes is highly contagious and is sexually transmitted through intercourse or oral sex. Your mate or partner should be notified immediately when you find out you have the virus. Also, use all precautionary measures and protection when having intercourse. Be totally honest with your partner; trust must be a top priority in your relationship.

4. Create a Diary

Keeping a diary of when outbreaks occur and how certain products or treatment methods affect the outbreak can help you overcome future problems. Note when and how long the outbreaks occur and what triggers them if you can recognize the trigger. A diary might help you see patterns with your outbreaks and learn how to better cope with them.

5. Eat for a Healthier Immune System

Since one of the primary causes of HSV 2 outbreaks is a weakened immune system, it makes sense to eat foods that strengthen the immune system. With a poor diet, your body is unable to defend itself against the herpes virus. Most fruits and vegetables can help boost the immune system as well as vitamin C supplements and some herbs. Look for foods high in antioxidants with essential nutrients for good health. You might also try herbal tea. Some herbs and supplements to consider are astralagus, olive leaf, echinacea, andrographis, zinc, and shitake mushroom.

To succeed in the battle with genital herpes, you must fight the disease at its source. Realize you’re not in the battle alone, and be sure to consult with your doctor before trying certain medicines or treatments. Keep these five methods in mind to get the relief you deserve when you need it.

Telling Your Partner You Have Herpes

Being diagnosed with Herpes is often a monumental occasion in a person’s life. They often feel embarrassed and ashamed and do not typically know how to emotionally process the test results. This is because unlike most sexually transmitted diseases, Herpes does not have a cure. This leaves many of the infected feeling like their sex life will forever be tainted and that they may never find a sexual partner who is willing to risk infection by engaging in sexual intercourse with them. However, the best way to tell your partner that you have Herpes is to BE UPFRONT AND HONEST. The more you lie to your partner, the more you jeopardize their health and yours.

Unfortunately, many of those infected with Herpes simply choose to ignore the problem and gamble with the health of their current and future sexual partners. This option is extremely irresponsible, as it puts the health of others at risk.

The reality is that more people than you may think are infected with Herpes. According to the Center for Disease Control, CDC, more than 45 million people ages 12 and older have genital Herpes, the most serious type of Herpes. If you are currently infected with Herpes, you need to face facts. You need to understand, that while there is no cure for Herpes, there are ways to help surpass the outbreaks, which in turn will help decrease the chances that you will transmit the disease to your partner.

The first step in suppressing Herpes is to improve your lifestyle. This means decreasing the consumption of harmful vices such as alcohol and tobacco, participating in regular exercise and improving your overall diet. It is also wise to consider taking safe, all-natural supplements. Choosing a healthier lifestyle is the best way to help boost your immune system. The healthier your immune system is, the less likely you are to have future outbreaks. For more information regarding all-natural Herpes supplements.

Remember, the best way to deal with Herpes is to attack the disease head on. Do not let this common, yet often ignored, virus control your life or affect your future happiness. There are millions of others out there living with the disease so there is no need to feel embarrassed. Be honest with not only with yourself, but also with your current or future partners.

You should also insist on safe/safer sex precautions, and be sure to avoid sexual contact when you are having an outbreak as you are more likely to transmit the disease during an outbreak than during times of suppression. Do not Herpes take over your life, adopt a healthier lifestyle and research the many benefits of Herpes supplements such as Viralprin™.

Motivation of the Day: Pain Is Only in Your Mind

Published by admin under Motivation

An aging Hindu master grew tired of his apprentice complaining and so, one morning, sent him for some salt.

When the apprentice returned, the master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.

“How does it taste?” the master asked.

“Bitter,” spit the apprentice.

The master chuckled and then asked the young man to take the same handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and once the apprentice swirled his handful of salt in the water, the old man said, “Now drink from the lake.”

As the water dripped down the young man’s chin, the master asked, “How does it taste?”

“Fresh,” remarked the apprentice.

“Do you taste the salt?” asked the master.

“No,” said the young man.

At this the master sat beside this serious young man, who so reminded him of himself, and took his hands, offering:

“The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains exactly the same. However, the amount of bitterness we taste depends on the container we put the pain in. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things . . . Stop being a glass. Become a lake.”
